After a landmark first edition, the 2026 Spirit of Math Global Round returns to Toronto, Canada. The contest is written on Thursday, August 13; delegations arrive the day before and tourism follows, so families on the full contest-and-tourism programme are in Toronto August 12–16. Top performers from every participating country's National Round earn their invitation.
About the Global RoundOf the more than 30 Bermudian students who wrote the national round on February 7, an incredible 23 qualified for the Global Round in Toronto — the island's largest contingent ever. Gold, Silver and Bronze awards were presented at a packed ceremony attended by the Minister of Education, with donor Sean McNulty of XIB sponsoring five talented students for the trip.
The Contest in Bermuda →Ecuador's national round — organised by Academia de Ciencias Exactas APOL — was written on February 7, with Tomás Moro International School hosting the Quito selective and an opening ceremony at UCSG in Guayaquil. Exams were sent to Canada for official marking, medals were presented on March 7, and national media reported Ecuador tripled its participation with eyes on the 2026 Global Round.
The Contest in Ecuador →The 2026 International Spirit of Math® Contest was written on February 27 by students in more than 30 countries, welcoming Grades 7 and 8 to the competition for the first time in its history. Students scoring 80% or higher earn a place on the National Honour Roll.
See past contests →Three Peruvian students aged 9 and 10 — Jofran Uchasara, Liam Esquivel and Yamil Tello — each won gold in their categories at the 2025 Global Round at the University of Toronto, competing against delegations from 14 countries. Their journey, backed by Peru's Ministry of Education and private partners, made headlines nationwide in El Comercio, Infobae, Andina and TV Perú.
The Contest in Peru →Top National Round performers from countries including Brunei, Canada, Ecuador, Ghana, Laos, the Philippines, Singapore, Türkiye and the USA gathered in Toronto for the first annual Global Round — livestreamed worldwide, with Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit medals awarded.
